Vince Staples @ Hammerstein Ballroom|2.21.19 (warning_ epilepsy)

To be honest I can’t think of a young artist who’s as more West Coast than Vince Staples. I had to catch my East coast self throwing up West side because I THAT indulged by Vince’s performance. The man knows how to stay cool yet keep the crowd wild. Before he even came out, the crowd was ready, shouting his name. Buddy prepared them well. The smoke began to rise and the eyes of each fan present expanded in anticipation. Vince walked out so smooth I thought he taught Michael how to be a smooth criminal. With a slight lean and limp, Vince Staples eyed down the audience, put the mic to his lips and emptied his clipped.

Head bopping, two-stepping, Vince had the crowd West repping. Keeping his posture at an ease, Vince gave a quick burst of unexpected excitement and the crowd went off! A mosh over here, some pushing over there. The audience gave him what he wanted, energy. I don’t think I ever been at such a smooth yet rowdy show. I almost wanted to be about that life just so I can drop a gangster rap song, ha!

Vince, encore to you my man. You showed me how the West Coast get down.
